Where there are people, there is purpose
“Where there are people, there is purpose.”
Those were the words that were given to me as I researched the future of Africa.
According to the United Nations, the world population will hit 10 billion people by 2055 and approximately 95% of this growth will take place in low and middle income countries. Of this growth, Africa will account for 57% — it’s population expecting to double by 2050. Almost 60% of Africa’s population is under the age of 25, making it the world’s youngest continent.
This shows me that the greatest investment we could ever make on the continent is in our youth. Investing in stocks and cryptocurrencies are great, but it is our investment in the next generation of great minds, creatives, and innovators that is most sustainable. What’s better than wealth? Generational wealth. And what’s even better than that is a generation of people who know who they are.
The future of Africa is as bright as our people. I encourage us all to think of ways we could invest in the next generation of change agents and thought leaders. Not just on the continent of Africa, but around the world because where there are people, there is purpose.
